10 Actors You Didn't Know Could Sing

Thanks to the Internet and Google, we can know almost anything at the click of a button which is awesome because if Google wasn't around to tell me which actors could sing I honestly don't know what I'd do with my life.

But thankfully Google has informed me that an array of talented actors can sing which kind of isn't fair seeing as they already have an abundance of talent. Then again, being an actor is a multifaceted profession and if you can possess a good voice chances are you're going to get more roles than those who lie on their CV and tell casting agents they can ride a horse.

Here are 10 actors you never knew could sing.

1. Robert Downey Jr.

This man may have had his fair share of troubles over the years, but Downey's impressive talents have never been in doubt, and he's rightly been dubbed one of America's finest screen actors in recent years. He's also one of the richest, which seems deserved as he kills it in every role, even if his Iron Man character Tony Stark is as bland as the food your grandpa gets in his nursing home.

Anyway, the gifted actor isn't only a screen actor- he's also a good singer, who wowed us all with his flawless single, Man Like Me.

2. Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson is many people's definition of perfect, such are the fine curvatures on her body, her perfect pillow lips and her chiseled face that may well have been crafted from the gods above. Oh, and she's also a good actress, with starring roles in films like Lost In Translation cementing her reputation as one Hollywood's most in-demand actresses.

If that wasn't high praise. Scarlett-Jo is also a pretty mean singer, and she proved this by releasing an album of Tom Waits covers in 2007.

3. Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel is that annoying actress from New Girl that you end up liking because the show itself is good rather than the actress being anywhere near likable and after seeing a recent video of her near-perfect rendition of Nina Simeon's classic, I Put a Spell on You, I think she should do away with acting altogether and become a singer.

Performing on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Zooey absolutely killed it, and she rightly received an incredible applause at the end.

4. Michael Cera

The awkward nerd made a name for himself in the coming-of-age comedy flick, Superbad, and ever since he's been typecast in roles of a similar nature, so it was cool to know that there was more to this talented Canadian actor than meets the eye.

In fact, Cera is an excellent singer and musician, and you may forget that he even showcased his abilities on Superbad while a man opposite did lines of coke.

5. Seth MacFarlane

Seth MacFarlane is the genius behind the animated hit Fox series, Family Guy, but as well as training at the Rhode Island School of Design, Seth is also an accomplished jazz singer having worked with the vocal coaches of Barbara Streisand and Frank Sinatra.

Showcasing a litany of artistic talents that would make Brian Griffin green with envy, MacFarlane appears to be one of those guys that's good at everything.

6. Sarah Jessica Parker

She's won the hearts of millions of women (and annoyed many of their partners) across the world thanks to her portrayal of New York columnist and unlucky-in-love character Carrie Bradshaw in the HBO series Sex in the City, but few are aware of her career pre-Sex and the City.

As well as starring in various TV shows and commercials, Parker was an accomplished stage actress, and sung on many occasions, including the musical Annie, a character whom she played on Broadway.

7. Joseph Gordon-Levitt

He played a few cute songs alongside co-star Zooey Deschanel in the hit romance movie 500 Days Before Summer and has often sung in interviews, but Levitt showed some serious vocal range when he dueted with none other than Lady Gaga.

Performing Baby It's Cold Outside, the duet was pitch-perfect and made us wish Levitt would consider recording an album.

8. Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried was a fashion model before she successfully transitioned into acting, but a lesser-known fact about Amanda is that she's an excellent singer, and she's showcased her vocal abilities in a few movies, with the obvious example being the musical Mamma Mia!

Seyfried also wooed Channing Tatum with her guitar and voice in Dear John which is more than good enough for us.

9. Jada Pinket Smith

Married to Will Smith, Jada Pinket Smith has had a successful career herself over the years even if it hasn't come close to matching her megastar husband's, but unlike Wil, Jada can singer as well as act.

Lead singer of the rock band Wicked Wisdom, Jada has released various singles with the band over the years, proving time and time again just how good her voice is.

10. Hugh Jackman

This might be a fairly obvious one considering he wowed us in the movie adaptation of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, but we couldn't not include the hunky Aussie in our list.

Before Les Miserables, Jackman also starred in the 1999 musical, Oklahoma and was even handed the privilege of hosting the 2015 Tony Awards.
