15 Hollywood Couples You Never Knew Were Married
We all know the Hollywood super couples, you know...the ones with a portmanteau of their names to signify just how famous and powerful they are, but sometimes these are the ones that take up all the headlines. Of course, dating in any industry is hard but sometimes, under the watchful gaze of the media, it can be particularly difficult to start up a new relationship.
Unsurprisingly then, many actors keep their private lives on the down low and so you may be surprised at just how many end up marrying each other. Here we look at 15 couples we reckon you didn't know were married.
15. Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart
The Star Wars legend and acting royalty has been married before and recent headlines may have been taken up with the admission from the late Carrie Fisher that she and him had an affair whilst filming the original trilogy. However, fewer know that Ford married Ally McBeal star, Calista Flockhart after the pair first met at an awards ceremony.
After 8 years of dating the pair married in New Mexico whilst Ford was filming Cowboys and Aliens in the state and they have been together ever since.
14. Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal
It was the film The Secretary that launched Maggie Gyllenhaal's career into the Hollywood mainstream and it was at a dinner party after the film's release where the two actors met and immediately hit it off and in 2009, some 7 years after their fateful meeting, they got married and now have two school-aged children.
They have worked together in an off broadway play as well as a Stephen Soderbergh film but due to damaged negatives, it never got a release.
13. Joe Mangienello and Sofia Vergara
The True Blood and One Tree Hill Star is soon set to be appearing in the upcoming Justice League film as Deathstroke. He was introduced to Vergara by her Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson whilst she was still married to producer and entrepreneur Nick Loeb, the two, however, hit it off.
After her divorce, Vergara and Manganiello had a whirlwind 6-month relationship before he proposed and the pair ended up marrying in early 2015.
12. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz
Like the super spy he plays, James Bond, Daniel Craig has managed to keep his marriage to Rachel Weisz fairly hush, hush and although the pair have acted together, usually in theater, before, it wasn't until production of the movie Dream House that the pair became romantically involved having both split from long-term partners.
Married shortly after filming, the pair had a private ceremony in New York City.
11. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
Tom Hanks was married to his college sweetheart when he first met Rita Wilson on the set of 80s comedy TV-show Bosom Buddies. The pair instantly hit it off and, after Hanks divorced his first wife, they have been together ever since. Now a multi-Oscar winning star Hanks is arguably the biggest name in Hollywood.
Wilson has appeared in many films and television shows also and the pair married in 1988.
10. Alexis Denisof and Alyson Hannigan
Many will remember the How I Met Your Mother Star starting out as the friendly witch, Willow in Buffy The Vampire slayer but fewer may remember her future husband on the show when he appeared as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, the watcher who replaced Giles when he lost his job. Hannigan had an instant attraction to Denisof but he was reluctant to date a co-worker.
Two years later they were finally dating and then another four years went by before Denisof proposed.
9. Danny Devito and Rhea Pearlman
Meeting in 1971, Devito was acting in a stage play called The Shrinking Bride which also starred a friend of Rhea who would then go on to introduce the pair. The pair has acted together on numerous occasions, most notably in TV shows Taxi and Cheers as well as the film Matilda. Although the pair announced they were to split in 2012, they have seemingly worked out their problems and remain together.
8. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet
Many may remember that Lisa Bonet married the rock star Lenny Kravitz after her stint on The Cosby Show and they had daughter Zoe Kravitz together who is now a very successful actor in her own right. Bonet has mostly flown under the radar since then although has appeared in enough to keep her hand in the works of television.
Momoa is most noted for his role as Kal Drogo in Game of Thrones whilst he will also appear in the DC cinematic universe as Aquaman. Obsessed with Bonet since he saw her on The Cosby Show, Momoa pushed for an introduction from a mutual friend and the rest is history.
7. Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz
The two Spanish actors have a long professional career that goes right back to 1992 when they appeared in the Spanish art-house film Jamon, Jamon together when Cruz was just 18-years-old. It would be 16 years later, though, that the pair would fall for each other and start dating whilst filming Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona.

Bacon went on to become a massive Hollywood star and Sedgwick is best known for her work on the TV crime drama The Closer which has won her both an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
5. Adam Brody and Leighton Meester
Not just a weird fan-fiction crossover where the star of The OC marries the star of Gossip Girl, Brody and Meester met on the set of 2011 film The Oranges and were dating for three years before getting married. They also worked together on the film Life Partner's the year they got married, which is perhaps a good omen.
Now the pair has a son together and they both continue to work in television and film.
4. Geoffrey Arend and Christina Hendricks
Starring in Body of Proof and other TV shows, Arend Met Hendricks, best known for her role as Joan Holloway in Mad Men, when her Mad Men co-star, Vincent Kartheiser, introduced the pair. Briefly mentioning that she had a weird fascination with the circus and clowns and old carnival things, Hendricks knew Holloway was the one when four weeks later he bought her a black-and-white photo book on the circus in the 1930s.
Seeing this as a sign that Holloway had been actually paying attention to what she had to say, the pair has had a blossoming romance and in 2009 they married.
3. Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes
Hannibal's Hugh Dancy met Homeland's Claire Danes during the filming for 2007 movie Evening where apparently they bonded on set when they played board games together in between takes. Two years later they would get married in France with Danes telling the British fashion magazine The Edit:
“Marriage is wonderful. It’s challenging, and… it just keeps getting deeper. 2. Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel
Although Bledel is perhaps best known for playing Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, she met her husband Vince Kartheiser on the set of Mad Men and the pair would hit it off during the filming of the show eventually getting married in 2014 just after the final season of the show aired.
Although Kartheiser played matchmaker to Geoffrey Arend and Christina Hendricks he still also managed to make time to find love of his own and now the pair has a baby boy together.

They have appeared in numerous films together but they are probably individually known better for their work on TV.
Macy plays the dysfunctional dad in the American version of the sitcom Shameless whilst Huffman made a mane for herself on Desperate Housewives.
